It is stated that hydraulic systems developed in Türkiye aim to access the European market through design and production processes compliant with international norms. Engineering investments and compliance processes carried out in the sector indicate an increase in technical competence capacity.
Sectoral and Technical Structure
Hydraulic power systems—pump, valve, and circuit designs—are planned by taking pressure, flow control, and safe operating conditions into account. Manufacturers integrate technologies that enhance energy efficiency and ease of use into their systems, such as low oil consumption, electric pump modules, and pressure balancing. These approaches aim to provide operational advantages together with ease of maintenance.
Standards and Certification Framework
One of the reference norms for hydraulic systems is ISO 4413:2010. This standard defines “general rules and safety requirements” for hydraulic systems and components, covering aspects such as design, manufacturing, assembly, maintenance, continuous operation, energy efficiency, and environmental impacts.
In Europe, the harmonized version of this standard is also valid as EN ISO 4413:2010; this version is considered a fundamental compliance standard for machinery and hydraulic systems within the framework of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and, in its current form, the Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230, which entered into force in 2023.
Compliance with the norms requires that systems be protected against pressure, pressure fluctuations, and overload; that system components demonstrate durability; that protective measures such as pressure relief valves and safety valves be implemented; and that maintenance, cleanliness, and long service life be taken into consideration.
In addition, in countries such as the European Economic Area (EEA) and Türkiye, a declaration of conformity and a technical file must be prepared before the relevant machinery and equipment are placed on the market; in this context, the CE marking stands out as an indicator of compliance with EU legislation.
National and International Framework
It is stated that companies producing hydraulic systems in Türkiye are focusing on ISO/EN 4413 compliance and CE conformity, and through this alignment are seeking competitiveness in both the domestic and European markets. This situation increases the technical competence of domestic hydraulic systems and their potential for acceptance in international markets.
R&D and Engineering Dimension
Manufacturers optimize parameters such as pressure, flow, energy efficiency, safety, and ease of maintenance in the design and production processes of hydraulic system components. Operational safety of the system is ensured through protective mechanisms such as safety valves and pressure balancing. At the same time, oil consumption is reduced with energy efficiency in mind, and modern technologies such as electric pump modules are implemented. This approach aims to ensure that hydraulic systems are aligned with international standards in terms of both performance and safety.
As a result, hydraulic systems developed in Türkiye appear to have the potential to take part in international markets with compliance to European legislation and CE marking, provided that they are produced within the framework of conformity to the ISO 4413 / EN ISO 4413 standards set. Within this scope, domestic hydraulic production has become competitive in both the domestic and external markets by increasing its technical competence.
