Sector Overview and Technical Compliance
In recent years, trailer production in Türkiye has been undergoing a significant transformation in terms of structural safety, material technologies, certification processes and production capacity. In particular, the tendency toward compliance with international standards — led by EN 12642-XL — in the areas of load securing and superstructure durability has increased markedly.

At the same time, the sector’s production volume and export capacity are strengthening. Türkiye is supporting both domestic manufacturers and export-oriented companies with the aim of establishing a production ecosystem capable of competing with European markets.

Safety and Lightweight Balance in General Cargo Trailers
In curtain-sided, sliding curtain, box-type and platform trailers, load stability and superstructure durability are at the core of design. EN 12642-XL class superstructures are approved through both static and dynamic testing. In addition, the balance between lightweight construction and strength is becoming increasingly critical in terms of fuel and energy efficiency. However, the literature does not contain Türkiye-specific quantitative data on weight reduction or energy savings; therefore, this situation is expressed as a “trend.”

Heavy-Duty and Modular Trailer Segment
In modular, lowbed or specially equipped heavy-duty trailers, chassis strength, coupling geometry, transport safety and compliant production processes come to the fore. In Türkiye, companies such as Muratsan Trailer continue production activities for both the domestic market and export markets. In this segment, both technical maturity and production standardization are enhancing the sector’s competitiveness.

Safety in Refrigerated, Tanker and Dangerous Goods Trailers
In refrigerated, tanker and silo trailers, transport safety, superstructure integrity and liquid/flow safety are becoming standard in production. In Türkiye, some manufacturers produce ADR-compliant tanker and silo trailers. However, available data do not provide an official indicator verifying how much of total production has transitioned to these standards or the overall penetration rate across the sector.

Digital Control and Traceability Trends
In addition to structural safety, trailer manufacturers have begun implementing new systems in areas such as digital control, traceability, quality verification and documentation management. However, there is no consolidated data indicating that these systems have become mandatory across the entire sector.

Exports, Market Dynamics and the 2030 Perspective
With annual production approaching 60,000 units and exports reaching up to 25,000 units as of 2023, Türkiye has risen to become one of Europe’s largest trailer manufacturing centers. Sector representatives aim to see more widespread use of diversified production, dual certification systems, modular superstructure solutions and lightweight material technologies by 2030.

This strategic transformation seeks to establish a sustainable trailer industry based on advanced engineering, quality, compliance with international norms and competitiveness.
