ISO 17409:2020, one of the international norms for charging infrastructure safety in the field of electric vehicles, defines conductive charging safety requirements for road vehicles, including electric trucks. This standard provides a technical framework for safe power transfer, insulation, short-circuit protection, and thermal safety measures at the vehicle–charging station interface.

With the transformation toward electric trucks in the heavy commercial segment in Türkiye, the domestic development of traction batteries and standards-compliant production approaches aligned with international regulations are becoming a strategic focus. Supporting lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry battery cells through domestic R&D and production projects strengthens a holistic industrial approach aimed at both supply chain independence and long-life, safe energy storage solutions.

In recent years, electric bus production has been focusing on compliance with technical standards alongside environmental sustainability targets in urban public transportation, battery technology, and safety–functionality requirements in high-voltage propulsion systems. This transformation has made both domestic development programs and alignment with international norms increasingly important.

As of 2025, charging infrastructure for electric trucks is entering a significant phase of development in terms of both technical capability and standardization. Steps are being taken to expand high-power DC charging systems suitable for the Light and Heavy Commercial Vehicles segment, with the aim of establishing infrastructure for long-range transport in compliance with international standards.

As of 2025, electric truck production in Türkiye is entering a new phase in which stricter compliance with standards is being observed, driven by both global emissions targets and safety-focused technical regulations. Domestic manufacturers are moving toward vehicle architectures aligned with European Union and UNECE type approval frameworks, particularly through fully electric platforms developed in the heavy commercial segment and the battery solutions integrated into them.
