In Türkiye, innovations focused on hygiene, climate control and air circulation systems in ambulance production are gaining momentum in line with international norms. New-generation cabin and equipment designs aim to enhance the safety of patients and healthcare personnel, as well as vehicle hygiene and comfort.
In Türkiye, a strengthening trend is observed toward the use of composite materials in firefighting vehicles designed for intervention in high-rise buildings, replacing traditional metal bodies and superstructures as well as tower/ladder assemblies. This approach stands out in the sector as an alternative production model due to advantages such as reduced weight, corrosion resistance, ease of maintenance, and structural strength.
In Türkiye, a noticeable shift toward standards aligned with European norms is emerging in the design and production of ladder fire trucks and hydraulic platform-equipped fire trucks. In particular, referencing the EN 1846 and EN 1777 standards highlights the efforts of local manufacturers to bring their products into line with international safety, performance and durability criteria.
In Türkiye, a shift toward lightweight materials and modern superstructure technologies in the production of waste collection vehicles is gaining momentum. In particular, aluminum or composite superstructures and modular superstructure designs aim to both improve fuel/energy efficiency and strengthen compliance with environmental sustainability standards.
Smart waste collection systems developed in Türkiye provide efficiency and environmental sustainability in urban waste collection operations through sensor-based container fill-level monitoring, route optimization software, and cloud-based data management. These systems are drawing attention particularly within the context of green public procurement and environmentally focused waste management policies in Europe.
In Türkiye, steps are being observed at some municipalities and waste management companies toward the use of electric garbage trucks and compact electric waste collection vehicles. These vehicles are emphasized as having the potential to reduce noise pollution and local emissions compared with conventional diesel trucks.
Construction and special-purpose vehicle/equipment manufacturers in Türkiye have begun preparations for the Bauma 2028 trade fair, to be held in Munich, Germany, on 3–9 April 2028. Sector representatives are planning a broader and more comprehensive participation for 2028, building on the experience gained from their involvement in the 2025 edition.
It is stated that hydraulic systems developed in Türkiye aim to access the European market through design and production processes compliant with international norms. Engineering investments and compliance processes carried out in the sector indicate an increase in technical competence capacity.
Vehicle superstructure equipment (VSE) production in Türkiye continues to develop as an important sub-branch of the automotive industry through superstructure equipment for bodies, trailers, tankers, fire-fighting vehicles, and other special-purpose superstructures. The manufacture of bodies and trailers for motor vehicles is defined under code 29.20 within the NACE Rev.2 international classification system and is also monitored in Türkiye under this code.
