Türkiye has become one of Europe’s fastest-rising hubs for electric commercial vehicle production.
In the third quarter of 2025, production rose 42% year on year, placing Türkiye third in Europe after Germany and France.
Production growth in the European market
According to data from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), electric commercial vehicle sales across Europe rose 14% in the first nine months of 2025.
In the same period, production of Turkish origin increased by 42%.
Ford Otosan, Karsan, BMC and Mercedes-Benz Türk expanded their investments in electric models during this period.
Karsan moved into production of its hydrogen-assisted e-ATAK Hydrogen model;
Ford Otosan completed testing of the E-Transit and new electric tractor platforms at its Gölcük plant.
Mercedes-Benz Türk commissioned its eActros production line at the Aksaray facility.
BMC, meanwhile, plans to complete its domestic engine and battery module investments by the end of 2025.
Production capacity shifts to electric
According to the Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD) report, a total of 975,000 commercial vehicles were produced in Türkiye in January–September 2025.
Of this output, 61,000 units were electric models.
Capacity utilization on electric production lines rose to 78%, while more than half of new investments were directed toward battery, motor and software technologies.
According to OSD data, Türkiye accounted for approximately 8.1% of Europe’s total electric commercial vehicle production.
Rising share in exports
According to data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), commercial vehicle exports reached USD 12.4 billion in 2025.
The share of electric commercial vehicles in total exports rose from 6.3% to 11.7% in one year.
The largest export markets were Germany, France, Italy, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
